It’s rare that I ever make text posts, but for this, I have to.
Many of you may not know that a person that I very strongly look up to, admire, and consider a hero is Alli Trippy.
I’ve met her before in the past, five times to be exact, but the last time clearly hit home. I’m sure, for fans of CTFxC, you’ve seen the picture of her in the kangaroo onesie, and of course it was in the video. That onesie was mine.
The first day of Playlist (Saturday) I had run into her leaving a previous meetup. I stood there so nervous, and I couldn’t help it because like I said, she’s someone who I consider very important to me. There were only a couple people lined up around her, me on the end. It was finally my turn and she pulled me in for the tightest hug I’ve ever experienced and said, “There’s that big hug you tweeted me about that you told me you were going to give me. I got that tweet and said to myself, “I need to remember her face so I can return it.”” And she did. She flat out recognized me. By that time, I was already pretty shocked. I started telling her vaguely how happy her and Charles make me, and I cut it short because I knew other people were waiting. Her and my friend chatted quickly and my friend said, “You know, this is all she’s been talking about for weeks. Just wanting to meet you again.” And she responded with, “Well, I’d have to say the same” and smiled at me. That was when I approached her about the onesie (which I wasn’t even going to do in the first place). I asked her if she’d want to wear it and I don’t think she could’ve responded with a quicker “YES!”. So, that was done and planned for.
Sunday came around and I waited in line for an hour for them. I got to the point where she could see me, and as she was talking to Charles, she caught a glimpse of it and said “Oh my god Char look at the onesie. She’s gonna let me wear it. Charles.” And then everything in the video happened.
This is all leading up to what happened Monday. So, Monday I checked my phone and saw a notification that said that she’d followed me on twitter. I cannot tell you how many times I said “no, no, no. This cannot be right. This has to be an accident.” But it wasn’t. I tweeted her about Funshine music fest asking if she’d be there and she said yes, so I replied with “I really hope I get to see you again” and her response with “me too!” Along with more that I don’t feel like typing (sorry).
Today, I tweeted complaining about my teacher trying to make me practice presenting to “get over” anxiety. Alli had saw it and DM’d me and really made me feel better and suggested a few things. There just isn’t a feeling that can describe how good it feels knowing that someone you have looked up to for three years looks out and cares for you.
I feel like this whole thing is a dream and I haven’t been happier.
